Healthy Mind & Body

It is important that we teach the children about healthy lifestyles, whether we are talking about e-safety, road safety, sun safety or something different.

We teach a variety of lessons and have assemblies from visitors showing the children how they can adopt a healthier lifestyle and how they can be informed.

On this page, you will see some links to past assemblies and to relevant documents/websites that we think can help you at home too.

Healthy mind, healthy body... or perhaps, healthy body, healthy mind...

Whichever way you look at it - to be healthy, you need to work at it. The two exist together and both need to be nurtured.

So how do you nurture yourself mentally? Emotionally? Physically?

Is it different if you are a child or an adult?

We work hard here at Lowdham CofE Primary to ensure that all the staff and children in school have good health. This means focusing on risk assessments and health & safety but also how everyone is feeling; taking a temperature check on people's exhaustion levels and their own state of mind or body. In order to encourage the children to be healthy, to proactively develop and grow, the staff need to do this too.

We are proud that Mrs Pizer has recently completed her training as an ELSA (emotional literacy support assistant) which means we are officially an 'ELSA school'. Mrs Pizer supports so many of our children across the school so this is a great achievement to be recognised for.

We also use the HeartSmart materials to develop the children's emotional strength, their empathy and their own self-esteem.

We of course continue to teach PE (physical education) and the importance of being fit but our emotions and mental wellness is key.

If you have any questions about this or what we do, please do ask or take a look at some of the HeartSmart resources.
