Welcome to Year 3!
I'm Miss Casale and I'm the Class 3 teacher.
In class 3 we love learning. Now that we are juniors, we are learning to become more independent and are becoming responsible for ourselves.
We respect and follow the 'Lowdham Learners' motto and we all 'Shine like Stars'.
2021-2022
This year our topics are;
Animals Including Humans – Class text: The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark
Linking to Art, children paint self-portraits in the style of Picasso.
Forces - Class text: The Iron Man by Ted Hughes
In English, children will learn skills of using descriptive language emulating the style of Ted Hughes.
Rocks linking with Volcanoes and earthquakes Non-Fiction texts + Escape from Pompeii by Christina Balit and The Pebble in my Pocket by Merideth Hooper
Investigating different types of rocks in Science. In DT, the pupils will be designing and creating their own exploding volcanoes!
Light Class text: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe by C.S Lewis
The children learn all about how light travels in science and investigate shadows.
Study of a region in South America – A variety of class texts are used: The Great Kapok Tree, The Shaman's Apprentice, There's a Rang Tang in my room
A geography topic where children learn about an area in South America, The Amazon, and get to explore the region. We also learn about deforestation.
The Stone Age to the Iron Age- Class Text: Stig of the Dump by Clive King
A history topic where children use skills such as investigating artefacts and understanding what information can be retrieved by using a variety of sources.
